But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

John 5:40

Man is lost in sin and God has provided a way of escape.  It is inconceivable that some reject God’s offer.  What causes them to do it?

Some according to Matthew 13:15 have closed their eyes, ears and hearts.  They then are unable to see, hear and understand with their hearts and turn so Jesus is able to heal them.

Some have pleasure in unrighteousness.  They are enamored with the pleasures of this world and had rather dwell in the pleasures of sin.  2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 we read that they do not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  It is stated that for this reason God will send them strong delusions, so that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who do not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.  Some literally hate the truth.

Some have prejudiced hearts. They hear the truth and often believe the truth but are unwilling to obey the truth because it is not what they have been taught and have believed all of their lives. God’s inspired word plainly teaches that we should confess Jesus Christ before men. If we refuse to confess Him, He will not confess us before God the Father in heaven.  Jesus said, “How come you call me Lord and you do not to the things I tell you”?

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Mark 16:15-16

11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Col 2:11-14

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Gal 3:26-27

3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Rom 6:3-4

God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9
