Ps 127:3-5
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Children are indeed blessings from God and a large family is a special inheritance from Him. The Psalmist tells us that children are “of the Lord”. Only God is able to give them. Even though they come “through” earthly parents, they still belong to God; and the parents who fail to recognize this and to rear their offspring in the fear and admonition of the Lord fall short of the mark God expects of us as parents. They fail to prepare them for an eternity with our creator. We dare not miss the mark.
Matt 18:1-7
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,
3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

As parents we have a tremendous obligation to God and our children to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. The apostle Paul writes of the sincere faith that the young preacher Timothy had. He wrote that the faith his grandmother Lois had was passed down to his mother Eunice and I am persuaded now lives in you. Our Christian teaching and Faith is to be passed down from generation to generation. If we skip one generation thousands of souls could be lost. Including our own.
We have a wonderful teaching program here at Blyth Road Church of Christ. We have Bible classes from Pre-K through high school and adult classes in the auditorium.
